Daniel Howard, PT, DPT
FOUNDER,
EQUIPT FOR LIFE
Daniel Howard, PT, DPT is a spine specialist and chronic pain expert who brings research and personal experience together to treat each patient. A graduate of Davidson College (‘16) and Duke University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Daniel offers a deeply personal and uniquely well-rounded approach to care. His practice is especially focused on helping patients with long-standing back pain, nervous system dysregulation, or complex pain stories find relief and reclaim ownership of their movement.
Before becoming a DPT, Daniel worked as a teacher, counselor, and college basketball coach—experiences that shaped his ability to listen deeply, motivate meaningfully, and guide others toward their goals with empathy and purpose.
Outside the clinic, Daniel lives in Durham with his wife Grace, their daughter Lucy, and their dog Klaus. He loves the outdoors and spends his time hiking, golfing, playing basketball, and exploring everything the Triangle has to offer.

Open-Access
Physical Therapy
When it comes to physical therapy, personalized care can make all the difference in your recovery and wellness journey.
An open-access (cash-based) PT model offers unparalleled benefits that put your needs first, free from the limitations imposed by insurance-based practices. Choose open-access care for personalized, unrestricted treatment—focused on your goals.
Why Choose a Cash-Based Doctor of Physical Therapy?
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
Insurance-based clinics often require therapists to juggle multiple patients simultaneously to meet quotas, sacrificing one-on-one time. An open-access DPT dedicates their full attention to you during every session, ensuring a more thorough and effective treatment.
TAILORED TREATMENT PLANS
Cash-based therapists aren’t bound by insurance restrictions, which often limit the number of visits or dictate standardized protocols. This means your care plan is entirely customized to your goals, pace, and progress.
FASTER RESULTS
With personalized care, hour-long visits, and fewer constraints, patients often see quicker improvements, saving both time and money in the long run. Open-access DPTs are also not motivated by hitting a quota for required visits in order to get higher reimbursements, but instead are motivated by your improvement!
TRANSPARENT COSTS
Say goodbye to surprise bills and hidden fees. A cash-based DPT provides clear pricing upfront, empowering you to make informed decisions about your care.
Investing in a cash-based DPT is an investment in your health, offering a level of expertise, focus, and flexibility that ensures you achieve the best possible outcomes.
